Cisco Public Services Summit 9th – 11th December 2011
All around the globe, public sector leaders are innovating. They are exploring new ways of doing things in order to cope with the challenges they face. These solutions have one factor in common – they are all based on connecting people in radically new ways. But what’s the secret to getting this right? What new approaches should governments adopt to empower citizens and public sector workers? And will this really transform public sector productivity and create the resilient societies we need?
The Public Sector Summit is an intimate three-day gathering that includes lively debates and thoughtful conversations on a range of topics. It brings together public sector leaders from around the world and from all parts of the public sector, including central, regional, and local government, and from education, healthcare, and public safety. This year the Summit celebrates its 10th anniversary, and will be hosted by Cisco, and Oslo Teknopol. As ever, the Summit culminates with the unique experience of attendance at the Nobel Peace Prize concert.
Break-out Sessions (Saturday 10th December)
Breakout Session One 09.15 – 10.05: Maximizing the Power of Our Collective Knowledge
This session will explore the scope for transforming collaboration and knowledge-sharing between public sector workers in different organizations. It will take as its starting point the UK’s recently launched Knowledge Hub, an ambitious attempt to create a new kind of platform for online collaboration and data sharing. Stephen Dale, who has been at the heart of this project, will explain the vision behind the Knowledge Hub and the impact it is having. Delegates will gain insights into the contribution that online communities can make in the public sector, and will discuss the barriers to effective collaboration and the best ways to overcome them.
